GBTA, Silicon Valley Chapter Members,

As this week comes to a close, I look back at what has transpired in recent weeks and, like many of you, find myself in utter disbelief. It’s hard to imagine that just a month ago we discussed the importance of KPIs, QBRs and C-Level expectations at the Santa Clara Marriott. Now, our lives are engulfed with a global pandemic.  While most of us braced for, and expected, a few weeks of travel disruption, I don’t think many of us would have expected the unprecedented impact COVID-19 would have on our industry, our nation, and our livelihoods.

Every day I’m hearing more and more cases of friends and colleagues being impacted by layoffs, reduction in hours, and furloughs, not to mention the concern of the economic impact to our businesses, potentially putting the long-term future of some at serious risk.

We want you to know that we are committed to doing everything we can to support our members throughout this crisis. Our hope is that SVBTA will continue to provide an avenue for networking and interaction, in a time when people so desperately need to feel connected and know they are not alone.

Therefore, effective immediately, SVBTA will allow members to alter their email address (business email to personal email) to ensure impacted members will continue to receive the SVBTA emails including event registration and announcements. Please email Joel Costa ([email protected]) to request the change.

Additionally, I’m especially pleased to announce SVBTA will be holding our first-ever Virtual Meeting, “Recreating your Brand in Times of Uncertainty” on April 9, 2020. This event will be FREE for all members. CLICK HERE to Register.

For many of us this crisis goes beyond our business and careers, it has the potential to impact the health and well-being of friends and family members. If you are in need, please reach out. If you are lonely or feeling helpless, call a friend, a colleague or family member. By working together, and complying with the recommendations of our elected officials, we will get through this together.

With encouragement and hope for a brighter future,

Drew Mitchell, GTP |President| email: [email protected] | mobile: +1 831-227-3966
