Message From Our President
We’ve had a Great Year - THANK YOU!
Your support and loyalty to our chapter helped make 2017 standout as one of our best years ever! Our meetings attendance is up year over year and the content and panel discussions have either met or exceeded your expectations!
Thank you for continuing to show your support by: attending our meetings, supporting our outreach activities, sponsoring the Chapter, lending your volunteer time, friendship, event feedback and industry expertise. The more we hear from you, the better and stronger we become as a Chapter.
We believe that the New Year will be even better! Your Board of Directors is already hard at work in evaluating successes and opportunities in our strategic plan to ensure we continue to provide greater choices to Engage, Innovate and Educate! We believe these initiatives will demonstrate value and present options for a better business travel community as well as ongoing professional growth opportunities.
On behalf of your Board of Directors, we thank you for a great year! Best wishes to you and yours for continued success, good health and a prosperous 2018!

Greetings fellow SVBTA members,
Hello from Santa Rosa and thanks for your kind wishes and support after our community suffered a devastating series of fires in October. Our local residents have come together to help support each other in ways that are incredible and unstoppable.

We still need your help and we are OPEN FOR BUSINESS. Please follow this blog for the latest information: http://www.visitsantarosa.com/fire

“Enjoyable and FUN” Thank you SVBTA!
From Jessamy Ross, Sales Account Executive Delta Airlines
Thank You to our 16 SVBTA volunteers who joined Jessamy Ross on November 17th at the Second Harvest Food Bank in San Jose for 2 hours of fruit sorting, enthusiasm and giving back. It was also a great way to get to know our members better and enjoy time to help wind down a busy week by rolling up sleeves and helping those who are in need.
Jessamy would welcome the chance to help coordinate another event of this kind with our Community Outreach volunteers as a quarterly or annual activity!
December 14th Meeting: We will be collecting nonperishable food for the second Harvest Food Bank. Please bring nutritious nonperishable food items with you to the December monthly meeting at the Hilton Santa Clara.
From the Second Harvest Food Bank: Thank you! And please ask each member of your group to consider bringing donations of non-perishable food items. High protein items such as tuna and peanut butter are greatly appreciated or meals in a can like stew and soups. One can or one case does make a difference!
Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties is one of the largest food banks in the nation. Currently providing food to more than one quarter of a million people every month, Second Harvest is a trusted community-based organization that was founded in 1974. Despite the immense wealth in Silicon Valley, and partly due to the high cost of living, hunger and malnutrition are pervasive.
The Food Bank distributes nutritious food, including more fresh produce than any other food bank in the country, through a network of nearly 320 nonprofit partners at more than 850 sites. Second Harvest is pursuing innovative efforts to increase access to food resources as it seeks to feed an additional 100,000 hungry people each month. To reach more people, it advocates for anti-hunger policies and connects those in need to federal nutrition programs and other food resources. To learn more about how Second Harvest is building a hunger-free community, visit www.SHFB.org.

SVBTA will be collecting TOYS for the Sacred Heart Community Service before and during our December meeting. Sacred Heart Community Service expects to give out over 18,600 new, unwrapped toys, books, and bikes to 6,200 children this holiday season. Our help is needed, specifically gifts for pre-teens and teenagers (12-17 year olds).
Get ahead of the season, here are some ideas: gift cards (iTunes, Amazon, Target), action figures, Lego playsets, sports equipment, teen shoes in sizes 6-9, skateboards, scooters, hair dryers & curling irons. “Teens are the hardest to buy for and often get left out of gift giving”.
Sacred Heart Community Service is dedicated to bringing our community together to address under privileged families in Silicon Valley. Through a comprehensive array of community organizing committees, mutual support programs and resources, the Sacred Heart Community Service is working together to improve the lives in the Silicon Valley community.
